I hate it!

It comes in through my mail slot every day, flops to the floor and just laughs at me, as I try to decide what to do with it all. Like most of you, I cannot adhere to the OHIO paper rule (Only Handle It Once). Heck, if I could, I would probably no longer carry an ADHD diagnosis. Paper is everywhere. Same with you?

So I found something that looks like it will solve part of the problem and I’m excited about it. I’m going to order one to see if it helps with my kitchen piles. It’s called the Mail.Sorter and it looks like it could be perfect! There’s room for letters (the slots can be categorized) plus a place to hold magazines and catalogues.

Check it out HERE and if you order one, please let me know how it works for you. And I’ll do the same.

Maybe it's in our nationality - I'm Irish too - my Mom says I inherited my procrastination gene from her - she used to say she was always a day late and a dollar short. I loved her funny witticisms.

I know what you mean, Eaglefeather, about hating the mail. I usually put off getting it unless I'm expecting something like a package or birthday cards. LOL. I also like getting my little Irish gifts and Gypsy Rose catalogs.

I've gotten pretty good about getting important things, like bills, in a designated place (and actually paying them). And I'm good at getting the real junk right into the recycling. It's the large category in the middle I have the most trouble with. I did just set up three slots on my desk, after clearing a huge pile off its surface: an inbox, an inbox for urgent/important items, and a place fore bills. The next step is to actually spend time processing the stuff in the inboxes. We'll see if I can manage that! At least it's a system, as opposed to using my entire office as an inbox!

Terry, I'm much like you - hate the mail (unless it's something personal like a card, letter, etc.) - my husband is amazed that I often fail to retrieve the mail on a daily basis (especially during the school year) - I tell him it gives me stress, one more thing to deal with, etc.

Well it took me a while to finally get in the habit of doing this. Then I got so sick of the clutter that I just caved and decided that following some of my mothers' organizational tips wasn't going to kill me. lol.

Course the rest of the house still gets cluttered and papers pile up but at least the mail doesn't! LOL!

My mom always taught me the OHIO rule and I'm proud to say that is one I'm actually good at. I bring in the mail and stand next to the trashcan as I sort through it. Junk immediately goes directly in there. Catalogs and magazines usually hang around for a day or two. Except for my Gypsy Rose catalog cause I just really love the cover art. LOL

Bills sit on the kitchen table until my husband gets home to look at them.

It's true, then! I couldn't tell. Termites....
You are VERY funny, y'know?

I'm tempted to upload a photo, but I'm able to recognize that that would be a distraction. I do have a box similar to the mail sorter you carry. It's a carboard file-folder holder about 8 inches deep with a slanted top and six slots. I made folders labeled things like "Today," "Soon," "Put on Calendar," and "Termites." (Luckily, we don't have termites here, but my parents have them. I wondered where that folder went.) Anyway, I'm not making any of this up! (The truth is stranger than fiction, I guess.)
