I do not know of one parent with whom I have spoken who is even close to satisfied with how things are going at school. In the last week I have heard parents say (not in books – in real life) the following:
• Teachers don’t ask questions, they just tell us what’s what.
• My daughter has spent the last four weeks at home because the stress of school was making all of us sick.
• My child has more self-discipline…

I just stumbled upon your comment on the embarrassing to-do list post...
I have the same problem as your daughter with library fees and also have very little $. I have tons of books though, most of which have been acquired super-cheap or free, at yard sales and book sales. Toward the end of them, they just want to get rid of everything.
The last book sale I went to...we got to completely pack - to- overflowing....a brown paper shopping bag with any books we wanted....and it was....either $1 or $3 (it was a couple of years ago and I just can't remember). It's a great way to stock up on books without it costing a fortune. :-)
