About Me
I am a divorced mom, who more than likely has add, with 3 kids of my own and a soon to be step-daughter that lives with us. I first started suspecting that I might have ADD as I started researching about it when my son's teacher thought I should get him tested. As I read all of the questionaires I started to think omg this is me!! I am forgettful, and extremely emotional. I can't even remember all of it now but I know that the more I research the more I know that I have it. My oldest son, who is 9 and in 3rd grade always has good grades on his report card but the teachers will say he is constantly interrupting and typically the class clown. He is very aggressive and bossy with other kids. His teacher this year says that he has organizational problems but that he is very smart. I scheduled an appointment with a psychologist to have him tested for adhd but all we made it to was the initial consultation. My ex-husband flat out refused to have him tested any further. Caused a big scene at the dr.'s office and embarrased me!! All I wanted to do was at least rule it out. I wanted to know what I was working with. If his behavior had a deeper reasoning or if it was simply behavioral issues. But even with joint-custody if both parents do not agree the dr. can't test them. Which I think is ridiculous!! If we could agree why do you think we are divorced!! So I kinda put getting him tested on hold for awhile. I have no idea how to get my ex to agree. I am focusing more on me at the moment. If I can get help for myself then maybe I can figure out how to better help him. So far my other 2 kids have not shown any signs of having it. However, my future step-daughter most definitley has. And my fiance also had it as a kid. I think he has outgrown some of his symptoms as he is extremely organized but the mood swings are still there and alot of hyperness comes out from time to time. I used to think I was just leading a chaotic lifestyle and things would get better when the kids got older. But now I think there is more to it than meets the eye. My kids ages are as follows: 9, 4, 3 & 2!!!! Trying dealing with 3 in diapers at the same time!!! Now 2 are potty trained and working on the 3rd! :) Be glad when that's over!! I am just here looking for some advice on how to better organize my life and deal with this in the best way that I can. I also work a very high stress job at a corporate level. I just need to learn how to better manage my time and create systems that work for me as well as the entire family. But our financial situation is bleek at best. We are barely making ends meet. As a matter of fact I had to round up money to pay for my insurance co-pay for my dr.'s appointment in two weeks. Anyone who has any suggestions on how to make this all easier will be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks and I look forward to getting to know all of you. Please forgive me if I forget about this and don't respond for awhile, lol!
