I just put up my first blog in which I mentioned the same thing you did - I had ADD and it worked for me and I, too was naive about my child having it. My son is ADHD+ and he was on meds before school. I am more the inattentive type - I can be so absorbed in thoughts that it used to seem like people "appeared" in front of me when I finally acknowledged them! I had trouble convincing his father and grand mothers about the need for meds for my son. Eventually, on an ER room visit because he hurt himself running into something, a nurse who saw his inability to sit for a second at 10 p.m. said " you need to get him diagnosed now before he injures himself worse". That gave me the backing to convince his dad. And it doesn't make him zombie-like, which is what I was afraid of all those years that I didn't get help. To me, it is like having a 5 second delay on my actions, so that I can think it through. It helps in other ways as well, but for my son, that is a big help. Thanks for sharing your life which helps us understand ours more!
