OMG!! I have ADHD/ADD

Posted on February 27, 2010 at 5:49pm 1 Comment

I was given the assesment test my a Pshycologist to take home and fill out along with a person that knew me very well back in October 2009. Well, I answered the questions and I was suppose to give the other test to my BFF but I never got around to dropping it off to her. I either cancelled, or didn't have time to go see her or just plain forgot. I ended up giving it to my sister, who doesn't really now me that well, to assess me. Finally, in late November I took it to the Dr and he took several… Continue

Hello Erika. First your pic of you and your family is absolutely amazing. What a beautiful family! I hope you feel blessed everytime you look at them! :) Well I hope you're feeling better today. You asked me what helps me when I feel out of control. Well I've been on medication since my diagnoses (6 years now). I noticed a difference immediately! That was good but I still had 36 years of bad habits to undo or better said I know had to try to change how "I" do things. Not how everyone else does things how I do things. This includes learning and I'm stilling learning how not to feel that I have to be Super Mom or Super anyone! I've recently started therapy with a good Psychotherapy Center. It's helping a great deal with sorting out my emotions and getting assistance on how to do things differently. I've also taken great tips from this website! These woman are amazing! I do get a chuckle quiet often from reading their blogs, but little do they know they bring inspiration. You should draw from that. I also don't keep my adhd a secret either. Not that I walk around telling the free world that I'm on meds for adhd but in certain circles its good. You'll be surprised who will give you the support and who won't. I recently started reading a book that is easy to read and very informative. It called "Scattered Minds" I found it on Amazon or wait maybe I read the suggestion on this website anyway, I'll get you the full information tomorrow. I'm enjoying the book. This doctor gives great stories about individuals of all ages who discovered they were adhd late in life and how that has affected them and what they've done. One last thought before I run, faith for me plays a huge role for me. My faith is what helps me from feeling like going over the edge at times and my faith helps me to forgive myself for my imperfections, which we all have!! Keep smiling even when you don't think it will make it difference, I promise it will! Have a great day!
