Im 30, wife of 1, mum of 2, stay at home mother basically.

Medication has been a huge blessing and aid to my life. I found counselling to be rather frustrating and unhelpful and gave it away after 4 sessions.

I was curious if anyone had any tips or techniques that do help with getting through day to day life though?

One area im really struggling with is managing the family budget, but my poor Hubby is time poor and cant really take it on.

Id love to hear about small changes or techniques you use in any aspect of life that have helped you get through ADD challenges.

thanks to any that reply!

hi Emily, it is Mary Beth . The good and bad news is my husband is a banker. The good news he that he loves to check the deposits and being at the bank everyday allows him to see what transpires. The bad news is that he loves to check the deposits and see what happens each day . WE have been married 21 years, so have finally figured out ways to make it work .

ps... I have owned my own business for over 20years, so understand business. Dealing with eachother in a marriage is very different and I have had to learn what my husband did well and also did in a supporting role . Those were very vaulable. The areas we struggled in, we have learned to outsource , such s housekeeping, getting the oil changed ,etc.

Each Friday I get a certain amount of cash (like a no questions asked paycheck) . I use Dave Ramsey's envelope system . So simple ... I get a set amount of cash each friday and I put it into envolopes for the upcoming week. This allows me to feel in charge of my own expenses and wants. . You can have envelopes for groceryies and other major expernses as needed.

My envelopres include the follow/ing and have a specific amount for each that I put in that envelope.

save
give
tennis
misc. like kids things and getting my hair done

This has really helped me to feel it is ok to spend and to se what I have left. I feel more in control then before when I was simply tyring to justify my expenses. Plus, my husband doesn't ever think to ask abou t the cash money .

Give it a try . www.daveramsey.com is a super program and allows you to go through simple steps to get to financial freedom. He was in bancruptcy once and has experienced it.

Hope this gives you a start for the money aspects. what are you finding the most challenging thoughtout the day ? It may be simply being an at home mom and not just ADHD. But would love to support you .

I have had the same sucess you have had with meds,,, and just started counselling.. for me this a big thing as i feel no body understands what it is like to live with a different way of thinking... aka my husband!!!! but that is another topic!!! have you thought of finding another or rather different counsellor?
