My kid's doc recommended Omega Brite. It's fish oil, and while it's more expensive than regular fish oil, I think they did have some actually research that showed it helped. It's good for you anyway, so I figured their was no real downside. We both take it. I am not SURE it's helping, but it's a recommended supplement that has some actual research behind it.
There have been some large studies indicating that zinc is very important. Most kids vitamins have only a little zinc. The recommended amount is 17mg and most kids vitamins have 2.5mg. It is found in oysters and lamb but not many kids eat these. A few studies have said that magnesium and vitamin C are helpful. The amino acids have not been shown to be much help. I have written a lot about the supplements at:

I found the supplements thathave help is a good Multivitamin but without iron since i am over 50, vitamin d 200mgs a day, fish oil 2 tabs 3 x day with meals and glusomide and chiondrotin for all my aches and pains. i found they do help me especially the Vitamin D's I don't feel so tired when I wake up and sleep better then when I stop taking them. They say Fish oil helps the brain function how I don't know
I'm on the Blood Type Diet and it's helped tremendously. I still struggle, but it's not nearly as bad as it used to be.
All I've heard is in reference to Adderal- avoid large doses of Vit C and other acidic foods, drinks while medication is active. Alkaline levels in the digestive tract have a higher absorption of medication and the opposite with acidic levels. Over time, Magnesium is depleted as well as other vitamins and minerals.
Taking vitamins should be done when medication wears off. I take fish oil and D- ask your DR how much to take but I take 1000 units per day, Calcium w Magnesium, and an occasional multivitamin when I feel run down. I think there are some studies showing Ginseng and Fish Oil to be useful for ADHD specifically. Research the ginseng study if using with kids- don't remember how long ago I heard that one or if that's safe. Also be aware of what vitamins are fat soluble and what are water soluble- otherwise, they pass right through your system with no benefits.
